Hey, I've been told that mindfulness may help me so thought I'd join up. Tbh, not sure what it's all about though.

I'm recovering from ED and apparently, a tad depressed.

So, hi.

I am new to this website but my Psychologist suggested looking into Mindfulness but if I'm honest I can't made head nor tail of anything I've read so far.

Could someone put it into simple terms for me and how it may help me. I'm recovering from an eating disorder & am a bit depressed. :(

Many thanks.

Hi All! I'm interesting whether MBCT is only useful for preventing relapse when you're are well or it can be used for treating while in the episode(mild or moderate) of depression?

Hi all!
Since I live in Sweden and me and my wife are going to New York this September we would be interested in knowing if there are any open mindfulness sessions in New York that we could join as visitors?

Subject: How to overcome such painful sensations ? - by: Blooming_field

Hi, I am suffering under a generalized anxiety disorder coupled with depressive episodes, I discovered mindfulness one year ago and I find it very useful since it allows me to live in the present moment, not in the past or in the future.

Alas, for several weeks, I have experienced an intense pain in the region of my heart and my stomach as soon as I've tried to medidate, by focusing my attention on my breath.

The pain is almost unbearable, that's why I can only medidate during one minute, for afterwards my thoughts begin to wander in all directions in order to escape to the pain.

This stems perhaps from the fact that without wanting it, I put myself under pressure : I MUST experience my breath in the present moment, otherwise this would be a catastrophe.

I knows that sounds completely silly, but that's the way my brain has been wired to work.

Now, what should I do in oder to retrieving the ability to medidate I previously possesed ?

Should I concentrate on the pain instead of concentrating on the breath ?
